This piece is approximately 7" tall, and is loosely based on a Russian Matryoshka doll (nesting dolls). Lathe turned and hand sculpted using Tiger Maple, and Chittam burl.
Whew! Another gorgeous piece. You made excellent use of that wonderful wood.
Great choice of material. Superb grain in both woods, along with sweet contrast. Very nice.!!
Most intriguing. Beautiful selection of wood, excellent craftsmanship, neat idea!
This makes me want to learn to make stuff in wood.
Love this! The detail on the hooves is brilliant.
Hey that really is a neat and elaborate piece of work! Its desing is great by itself, but who would think itīs a secret container? - The joining part is hardly recognizable. Something small and precious could go there and nobody would ever find it there. Truly well done!
Thank you kindly. Your assessment of it is spot on; in fact, the write up that I had to do for the exhibition that it was in, talked mostly about the hidden potential, and the secret aspect of it.
What an interesting piece - unique - I like it
That's beautiful I love it! How long did it take to make?
the turning part of it was rather quick...the beauty of the lathe as a tool...but the carving, and final finishing took quite a long time. :/
cant help it but if its a Pan... he certainly needs penis. It's kinda part of his character XD Other than that.. Neat work!
LOL! True enough, unfortunately this was a submission for an international exhibit, so an anatomically correct Pan wasn't really an option.
That is creepy, and pretty cool.
